Interview Preparation — Practice With a Recruiter Who Knows What Hiring Managers Want

Most candidates fail interviews not because of their experience — but because of how they present it. One session with a recruiter who has sat on both sides of the table fixes that.

Why Interview Coaching From a Recruiter Is Different

Most interview coaches teach you generic frameworks. I teach you what actually gets people hired. For over 15 years I have sat in on interviews, debriefed hiring managers, and heard exactly why candidates get rejected — often for things they never even noticed.

I know what employers are looking for because I brief them before the interview and debrief them after. I can tell you exactly what your interviewer is listening for — and how to give it to them.

Whether you are preparing for a behavioural interview, trying to answer "tell me about yourself" without sounding rehearsed, figuring out how to handle tough questions about gaps or salary, or going into a final-round interview after a string of rejections — this session gives you practical, recruiter-level preparation that generic YouTube advice cannot match. All sessions are online via Zoom.

What We Cover in Your Session

Mock Interview With Real Feedback

We run a full mock interview tailored to the role you are applying for. You get direct, honest feedback on your answers, body language, and delivery — the kind hiring managers think but never say out loud.

Behavioural Interview Questions

I teach you the STAR method properly — not the version you read online. We build specific answers from your real experience so you never sound rehearsed or generic when answering "tell me about a time when..."

Handling Tough Questions

Gaps in your CV, salary expectations, why you left your last role — we prepare for every question that makes candidates stumble. You will know exactly what to say and how to say it.

Questions to Ask the Interviewer

The questions you ask reveal as much as the answers you give. I show you what to ask that makes hiring managers think "this person gets it" — and what to avoid completely.

Who Is This For?

You have an interview coming up and you want to be fully prepared — not just "I've read some tips" prepared, but genuinely confident and ready for anything. Maybe it has been years since your last interview, you keep getting to the final round and missing out, or you are returning to the workforce after a break.

Sessions are online via Zoom so you can book from anywhere in Australia or internationally. Same-day sessions are often available if your interview is tomorrow.

"I had a couple of final-round rejections in a row. After one session, I understood exactly what I was doing wrong. Got the next offer. Thanks Sushil for helping me calm my nerves especially for the final round interviews, great help."

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I prepare for a job interview in Australia?
Australian interviews tend to be more conversational and less formal than in many other countries. Employers focus heavily on behavioural questions — "tell me about a time when you..." — and expect you to give specific examples with clear outcomes, not generic statements. You should research the company, prepare 5–6 strong examples from your experience using the STAR format, have questions ready to ask, and know your resume well enough to talk through any part of it confidently. This session covers all of that in one go.
What are behavioural interview questions and how do I answer them?
Behavioural interview questions ask you to describe a specific situation from your past to demonstrate a skill or quality. Common examples: "Tell me about a time you dealt with a difficult colleague", "Describe a situation where you had to meet a tight deadline", "Give me an example of when you showed leadership." The best way to answer them is using the STAR method — Situation, Task, Action, Result — with a real, specific example and a measurable outcome. In the session I help you build 6–8 strong STAR answers tailored to the role you are going for.
How do I answer "tell me about yourself" in an interview?
This is the most common opening question and the one candidates handle worst. The answer should be 60–90 seconds, structured as: where you are now, what you have done, and why you are here. It should be tailored to the role — not a summary of your whole life — and end with something that connects your background directly to what this employer needs. We craft your answer together in the session so it sounds natural, not rehearsed.
How do I handle questions about salary expectations in an interview?
Salary questions trip up most candidates. The key is to have a researched range ready, anchor at the top of it, and frame it around market rate rather than personal need. Never give a number first if you can help it — redirect by asking what the budgeted range is. If pushed, give a range with the bottom being what you would actually accept. We cover exactly how to handle this in the session, including what to say if they push back.
What questions should I ask at the end of an interview?
The questions you ask at the end of an interview signal how seriously you have thought about the role. Strong questions focus on the team, the challenges of the position, what success looks like in the first 90 days, and the interviewer's own experience at the company. Avoid asking about salary, leave, or benefits at this stage — that comes later. I give you a tailored list of questions for your specific role in the session.
How quickly can I book before my interview?
Same-day and next-day sessions are often available. If your interview is tomorrow, note it when you book and I will prioritise it. Sessions run Monday to Friday, 9am to 2pm AEST, online via Zoom.
